Scoring for Sensations Seeking Scale

General Sensation Seeking Score (22 items)  Give yourself 1 point for each item listed below:

2A, 5B, 10A, 11B, 12A, 15A, 19B, 20B, 21B, 29A, 33A, 35B, 41A, 42A, 43A, 44B, 46A, 48B, 51B, 63A, 67B, 72B

22-17 - High sensation seeking preference
13-16 - Average sensation seeking preference
12 and below - Low sensations seeking preference

Thrill and Adventure Seeking (14 items) 

The thrill and adventure seeking (TAS) items create a subscale that is representative of the respondents' desires to engage in risky- and adventurous sports or activities, often seeking unusual sensations.

Give yourself 1 point for each item listed below:

1B, 10A, 21B, 29A, 31A, 35B, 37A, 40A, 43A, 49B, 53A, 67B, 69B, 71B

12 - 14 High thrill seeking preference
9 - 11 Average thrill seeking preference

Experience Seeking (18 items)

The experience seeking (ES) subscale is representative of the search for stimulation through the mind, senses, art travel and even mind altering drugs. It is often characterized by the desire to associate with the "hippy" or unconventional person.

Disinhibition (14 items)

The subscale that reflects feelings of disinhibition (DIS) represents attitudes of impulsion and extroversion. Frequently it is marked by the seeking of sensations through drinking alcohol, gambling, sexual variety, etc.
